What is it?

It is a B2B software application designed to manage a Marine, Aviation, Transport, fire or accident insurance branch. It manages as well direct as reinsurance activity. The system will manage any involved activities from the time of your offer to the assured to the final balance sheet and statement of accounts, including all accounting, in accordance with the European Insurance Control law specifications or any other.

It is presently the only existing product of that quality on the world market in this field and one of real high level technical value, in both insurance and computing fields.

It can handle insurers', reinsurers', agency's or brokers' activity.

It was developed in close cooperation with a former Marine insurance underwriter who had 3 years experience as a marine broker and over 25 years experience as a Marine underwriter. It is furthermore based on previous versions having been in production on various agencies, direct insurance companies and reinsurance companies sites since 1986 and on feedback received form our major customers during all those years.

On what kind of platform is PYRITES running?

Pyrites has been developed in pure JAVA language as a real Internet B2B (Business to Business) system. It is thus able to run without modification on almost any platform able to connect the Internet. It is for instance running on any recent Microsoft Windows version as well as Linux and Mac operating systems. Pyrites can of course as well be running in any similar Intranet network within the entreprise.

It works as well on an isolated desktop PC or notebook connected to the server either via the Internet or as an Intranet workstation. Connecting various subsidiaries and having them cooperating toghether on line is thus quite easy.

What is PYRITES achieving?

Whether you are a Reinsurer, a Direct Insurance company or even an Insurance Agent or Broker, « PYRITES » will manage all your activity from your offer to your customer to the end of the preparation of all figures and reserves for the yearly balance sheet and statement of account. The system does it entirely automatically.

It is consequently helping you to leave mundane work to your system and allows you to concentrate on the management information PYRITES gives you constantly over the year. It constantly keeps on line all types of statistical results you can dream of, both in any original and local currencies. You will thus be able to know the trends of your insurance portfolio much earlier than usual and to adjust it quickly. Is PYRITES simple to use?

Yes it is! Practical experience has shown that your colleagues just have to be shown once how to achieve their usual work. Within two hours’use they feel quite at ease with the system. The insurance industry technical rules are built into the PYRITES application. The system is therefore of great assistance to your staff making a majority of possible management errors simply not possible. PYRITES is however very flexible and is able to adjust to different usages of all customers acting in such diverse fields as reinsurance, direct insurance, insurance agency or broker in various branches and countries.

Does PYRITES speak your language?

Yes it is! From its very first version any individual user is allowed to fix for himself the language of its interface. The already available languages are English, French, Dutch and German. A new system language is quite easily added to the system and any existing language is as easily modified by the user to adjust any of its words or messages to the usages of the enterprise or branch.

Can PYRITES implement any currency?

The number of working currencies is unlimited within PYRITES. The majority of our customers run it on 30 to 40 currencies. During installation of the system any currency can be fixed as being your local currency. From that time onwards the system will keep all your accounting in both your local and all original currencies.

Is PYRITES expensive to use?

Far from it! The system is highly cost effective and less expensive than any other working system. Your technical results will seriously improve whilst your overheads will quickly decrease. This will more than offset the yearly licence price. Furthermore it makes you ready for expansion.

On what kind of database is Pyrites working?

PYRITES was developed as a multi-tiers system. This allows it to run on almost any well known database. PYRITES is presently used in production on Oracle 9i database.

What are the main differences with the previous versions of our insurance software?

PYRITES of course keeps all options of previous versions from 1986 onwards. Its major new possibilities are :

Its interface is multi-languages and creation of additional languages or existing language editing are easy to achieve.

It has been made multi-companies, multi-offices or subsidiaries, multi-branches, multi-sub-branches.

It is a SDI application to avoid users losing track of what they opened. You can however run the application twice to see two policies together.

It has all possible graphical options offered by the Internet technology and Java environment.

It can be linked (OLE) with any other Microsoft Windows or Sun applications (like MsOffice, MsWord, MsExcell, Sun OpenOffice for Windows or Linux etc...) as with your usual Internet or Web tool. You can thus link it to your present environment and most applications you are used to.

It is platform independant like any other internet software written in pure Java. It has been tested with full success on all recent versions of Ms Windows, Linux and Novell

On what basis can you benefit from using Pyrites?

There are two options:

Either you work with PYRITES on basis of a licence contract with yearly licence price based on the total premium income managed with it. You then benefit from all modifications and/or addition of new modules that we develope continuously.

Or you buy the present PYRITES sources for the exclusive use of your own group. You can the use it as such or as the already working core of your own new system. You can then adjust it accurately yourselves to your very need and continue to expand it by yourselves over the years.
